Clinically affected; originally from Bermuda; diagnosed at birth; first crisis at age 5 years; frequent long hospitalizations in childhood; pneumonia; hand-foot syndrome; hospitalized at age 32 with left eye hemorrhage resulting in lasik treatment; pain focalized in back and chest; currently has left ankle ulcer; first pregnancy was complicated with preeclampsia and premature delivery (30 wks); not currently on transfusion program; high level of fetal hemoglobin |
