NEUROLOGICALLY NORMAL WHITE CONTROL PANEL
Catalog ID: NDPT099

Brief Description
This panel contains 5 micrograms of DNA/well from 92 unique and unrelated White individuals without neurological disorders. Of these, 46 are males and 46 females, with age range at collection from 56-95 years. All are from North America. The plate arrangement is provided as a PDF file. Four wells remain empty for additional laboratory controls. NDPT099 replaces NDPT024 and has the same samples except ND10976 (same as ND08955 on NDPT098, formerly NPDT022) and ND09875 (not available at present) are removed, and are replaced by ND12315 and ND13844.

Data collected on these subjects consisted of Control Clinical Data Elements as outlined in the Coriell NINDS Genetics Repository guidelines. These data elements were developed to be consistent with other NIH healthy control sample collections including that of the National Institute on Aging Late Onset Alzheimer's Disease Consortium (LOAD). These data include a detailed medical and family history.

Data regarding demographics, medical history, examination, and family history for these individuals are available as an excel file. None of the subjects on the panel have a history of neurological illness in themselves. All were asked specifically regarding the following disorders, which were not present: Alzheimer's, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, ataxia, autism, bipolar disorder, cerebrovascular disease, dementia, dystonia, Parkinson's, and schizophrenia. None have any first degree relative with a known primary neurological disorder. Specifically none have a family history of any first degree relative with any of the following disorders: amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, ataxia, autism, cerebrovascular disease, dystonia, Parkinsons, schizophrenia.

All samples and data were collected with informed consent under local IRB approved protocols. These samples are generously shared by Drs. A. Gregory Sorensen, John Hardy, Petra Kaufmann, Karen Furie, Catherine Lomen-Hoerth, David Simon, Robert Brown, Kapil Sethi, Laurie Gutmann, Kevin Boylan, Daniel Newman, Paul Gordon, Dennis Dickson, Zbigniew Wszolek, Matthew Farrer, Peter Bosch, Burton Scott, Ray Watts, Robert Miller, Nickolas Maragakis, Okun Mandel, Edward Kasarskis, Rup Tandan and Ted Dawson.

Additional control samples from individuals without neurological disease and with a range of clinical data are available via the NINDS Repository catalogue. Single samples from this panel can also be obtained, individually. Positive control samples for known causal genes are available, as listed, under specific disorders (see NINDS Repository catalogue).
