NINDS Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells
Instructions for Ordering Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSCs)
from the NINDS Human Genetics Resource Center
Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) will be distributed to qualified professional persons who are associated with recognized research, medical, educational or industrial organizations in health-related research or health delivery. Prior to placing the order, investigators interested in iPSCs are encouraged to review the
stem cell culture protocols and
for freeze recovery, passaging, and cryopreservation information.
Investigators who are unfamiliar with stem cell culturing methods are encouraged to explore hands-on stem cell training courses supported by the NIH.
The two requirements for ordering iPSCs from NINDS Repository that ensure compliance with the Office for Protection from Research Risks (OPRR), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) regulations for the protection of human subjects (45 CFR Part 46) are as follows:
- A Material Transfer Agreement for Biospecimens (MTA) detailing the terms and conditions of sale must be signed by the principal investigator and the institutional official who can make legal commitments on behalf of the institution.
- An iPSC Request form with statement of Research Intent that describes the research to be done with the iPSCs must be completed and signed.
There are no replacements for stem cell cultures, except if the sample arrives at the researcher’s laboratory in a physically compromised condition (e.g., not frozen, broken) and a replacement is requested within 24 hours of receipt. For all other replacement related questions, please contact NINDS@coriell.org.
Placing an Order
All orders for iPSCs must be submitted using the online catalog. Customers must complete a one-time online registration. After registration is approved, the customer can add items to their shopping cart. See here for more information. In addition to a completed MTA, all NINDS Repository iPSC orders must include a completed iPSC Request form with statement of Research Intent prior to approval of the order. Be sure to include the order number on the iPSC Request Form. Completed and signed MTA and iPSC Request Form should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
