Remarks |
Holstein breed. The thoracic aorta was obtained on 4/25/79 from a 4 to 5 month old fetus. The culture was initiated using cells released from the lumen of the vessel by collagenase digestion. Plasma-derived serum was used in the primary culture to select against possible smooth muscle cell contaminants. The cell morphology is polygonal. The karyotype is 60,XY; normal diploid male. This culture tested positive for the endothelial cellspecific von Willebrand factor and negative for alpha-smooth muscle actin (immunofluorescence assays) and positive for angiotensin-1 converting enzyme activity. Culture tested negative for bovine viruses BVD, PI-3 and BHV-1 prior to submission to the Repository. Same culture, line BFAE-39, at later passage is AG04762A. The legacy karyotype description shown in this Remark may not be representative of the current available product. |
