Limited Use Label Licenses

Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Limited Use Licenses

The human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) available through the NHGRI Repository have been reprogrammed using various technologies, some of which are licensed by third party entities. Researchers purchasing hiPSCs from the NHGRI Repository are responsible for any limited use label licenses (LULLs) applicable to the cell line purchased. It is the researcher's responsibility to investigate whether the intended use of the cell line requires him/her to obtain commercial rights to the technology. Below are links to LULLs which may apply to samples in the NHGRI repository.

  • iPS Academia, Japan Inc. License– Licensing policy, as it pertains to the purchase of products that make use of reprogramming technologies developed by iPS Academia Japan Inc., by not-for-profit and for-profit institutions.
  • Sendai-CytoTune License – License policy as it pertains to the purchase of products that were generated using technology distributed by Thermofisher Scientific. To obtain rights for the commercial use of Sendai reprogrammed cell lines please contact I'ROM Group.
  • Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) License – Licensing policy for cell lines generated using WARF technologies. PDFs of various licensing agreements, material transfer agreements, and interinstitutional agreements are available through this link.

If you have any questions regarding LULLs, please contact the entity holding the license directly.
