Haskell Berman

Director of External Affairs

As Coriell’s Director of External Affairs, Haskell Berman is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with external partners, as well as engaging with local, state and federal policymakers and government entities. Haskell brings more than 37 years of state government, political, and public affairs experience to Coriell.

Prior to joining Coriell, Haskell served as Senior Vice President of State Affairs for the HealthCare Institute of New Jersey (HINJ), a trade association representing New Jersey’s research-based biopharmaceutical and medical technology companies. He is also a co-founder of Innovation New Jersey, a coalition of industry, higher education and government focused on building New Jersey’s innovation ecosystem.

He currently serves on the Board of Directors of EngageNJ and has previously served as Vice President of the New Jersey Society for Economic, Environmental Development (NJSEED) and on the Board of Trustees of NJPRO.

Haskell began his career as Chief of Staff to Assemblyman Bob Franks and subsequently in a variety of senior staff positions in the New Jersey General Assembly Republican Office, including Director of Policy & Planning, Director of Intergovernmental Relations, Director of the Speaker’s Office and Deputy Executive Director. He also managed the Assembly Policy & Rules Committee and Assembly Education Committee.

In 1990, Haskell managed the successful campaign for re-election of Congressman Dean Gallo, and in 1991, he served on the staff of the New Jersey Republican State Committee. He also served as Vice President of Capital Public Affairs, a leading New Jersey government relations firm, from 1997-2000.

Haskell graduated summa cum laude from Monmouth University with a B.A. in Communications and Political Science and served for twelve years as a member of the university’s Board of Trustees Government Affairs Committee.
