Congressman Rob Andrews visited Coriell Institute recently as part of a tour of outstanding organizations in New Jersey's First Congressional District.
"I brag about Coriell everywhere I go," Andrews told a room full of Institute staff.
A longstanding supporter of biomedical research, Representative Andrews touched on Coriell's commitment to ground-breaking research and attracting the brightest scientists to South Jersey. He also described Coriell's partnership with the United States Air Force as an example of Coriell's innovative ability to sustain the local economy.
After his engaging talk, the Congressman welcomed questions from our staff; topics ranged from legislation to the political landscape in Washington. As the ranking minority member of the influential House Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions (HELP) subcommittee, the Congressman was pleased to discuss the Affordable Care Act, science education, and the role of women in the sciences. He was thrilled to see so many women working at all levels of our Institute and attributed Coriell's successes to its long-progressive employment policies.
