Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic’s second year, Coriell thrived.
We grew our already existing biobanks and research programs and introduced new scientists and new research initiatives. There has been great progress in each of our three pillars – biobanking, research, and community engagement –and you will find more details about each in our recently published annual report.
Some brief highlights include: Coriell’s growing collaboration with the rare disease community in partnership with the NIGMS Human Genetic Cell Repository, celebrated at our second annual Rare Disease Day at Coriell; Jian Huang, MD, PhD, associate professor and Senior Scientist for Stem Cell Biology and Genetic Engineering, winning a $2 million, five-year grant to research ways to reduce drug resistance in patients suffering from acute myeloid leukemia (AML); and one of Coriell’s Science Fair participants moving onto the International Science and Engineering Fair and earning a first place prize in biochemistry.
Despite any obstacles offered by the ongoing pandemic, Coriell continued its upwards trajectory. Read more about it in our 2021 annual report.
